I love to meet people and hear their stories, and I love to tell stories through writing. My passion for writing began when I was just 10 and, as I found out as the wind blew me in various directions, could be used in a variety of ways. I have told stories of cultures and ideas, people and their quest for change. I have heard profound and heartbreaking stories, and met a need to get those stories into the hands of large audiences. But truly the greatest part of my craft is meeting and then understanding why a story needs to be told and how to best serve the desires of the story's originator. When I surpass their vision, I feel I truly know my craft, while retaining an ever important degree of humbleness - one cannot know everything afterall. In addition to my love of writing, I have personally been developing a great interesting in advocacy for the needs of neurodivergent children. Stemming from personal experiences with one of my own children, I have come to find that there is more that needs to be done in our societies to promote and validate children and adolescents in their uniqueness. I have been met with much negative criticism as to my child's abilities and refuse to accept that his fate is no more than a series of negative comments on his performance in traditional school settings. I believe we can do better. So I am, in my own small way, working towards change, for him and for others like him.
