Katya is of the the UK’s best known, leading voices on Europe’s relations with the UK post-Brexit, the impact of the war in Ukraine and European attitudes towards Russia, China and the United States. She has unique insider knowledge thanks to extensive interviews with political leaders across the continent and years of experience covering European politics, society and current affairs.Katya is also an expert on populism across Europe, the future of the EU, the ongoing energy crisis and -as a former war correspondent in the Middle East - on European relations with that region too. She is also the 2019 recipient of the News and Factual award at the Women in Film and TV awards. That same year she received the British Journalism Review and University of Westminster’s Charles Wheeler award for Outstanding Contribution to Broadcast Journalism. The Brexitcast podcast which she co-hosted with three other colleagues received the Listeners Choice award at the British podcast awards 2019 - the same year as the London Evening Standard newspaper named her as one of the city’s most influential people. In 2022 Bristol University named Katya their Arts and Media Alumnus of the Year. Earlier she was an AIB Winner for the BBC Children of War series.
