About Katya Moorman

Co-founder and Editor of No Kill MagazineCreative Direction | Photography | Content Creation for Sustainability + Social ImpactI am passionate about changing the narrative around our relationship to the planet and to ourselves. Acquiring more things does not equate with more happiness or feeling fulfilled. Self love isn't something you can attain through buying self care products or procedures. Or even through mantras. (It comes from developing a sense of self Worth IMHO but I digress.)I have always deeply loved fashion as a form of self expression. When "street style" blogs became a thing I noticed that everyone featured was either model beautiful (mostly actual models) or had enough money to wear high end fashion. I didn't see "my people". Meaning the mostly queer nightlife people who made couture level gowns from plastic bags before 'trashion' was a thing.I started a blog in 2008 called StyleDefined NYC to fill that niche. It gained a nice following, trained me as a photographer and gave me opportunities to photograph around the world before selling it in 2014.I worked for a sustainable fashion start-up and did a deep dive into everything wrong with the fashion industry after that and in 2020 decided to go online again with No Kill Magazine. No Kill is the fashion/lifestyle magazine made for a planet on fire. The focus is on innovation, vintage, personal style and activists as new role models. Anti-fast fashion and the Amazonization of our world we believe the future is still a place we can invent. And are inventing it in a holistic and equitable way.In addition I am an adjunct in the graduate communication design program at Pratt Institute where I teach Sustainability + Design.

Listed skills include Creative Direction, Photography, Fashion, Social Media, and 40 others.
