I've always had an interest in wildlife and ecology, which is why I chose a degree in Behavioural Biology. I have been working for nature conservation charities since 2011 when I started as a volunteer intern at the Bat Conservation Trust (BCT) before being hired permanently.I have experience in a wide range of conservation roles, focused on volunteer and community engagement. A common theme throughout my time in the sector has been the importance of engaging local communities and people outside of conservation organisations in our work, as very little can be achieved without the support of the people whose lives will be impacted by its outcomes. Even with all the UK’s conservation organisations working together we cannot protect nature just within reserves and cannot do all that needs to be done without engaging more, and more diverse, people in our work.I have experience in a range of skills, especially;* Project work, particularly coordinating varied teams and facilitating engagement between groups and organisations* Training and creating educational and informative resources, ranging from posters to instruction manuals and videos and in-person training sessions.* Recruiting and managing volunteers in a wide variety of roles.
