Overseeing OPM's framework contracts held with international donors: I have set up the systems and processes for managing our consortium interests. OPM was the most successful supplier on DFID's Global Evaluation Framework Agreement (GEFA), having won approx. £35m in that framework at the time.I also led on a number of internal change management projects, including the Business Process Improvement project, which is presently mapping OPM's business processes with the aim of reducing project-based overheads.

Overseeing the Mayor's £22m Sports Legacy Fund, minuted at the GLA's Investment and Performance Board as 'one of the best-run projects in the GLA'. I co-designed the programme, personally setting the application and assessment criteria. I was responsible for distribution and management of the grants, performance management of 40+ direct grant recipients, and stakeholder relations, as well as the budget, risk and issue management. I met regularly with all grant recipients helping to prevent performance issues and assist in spreading best practice. I have built a wide network of contacts in the sports and health sectors. I also led on the design and execution of the evaluation of this programme.

Internal consultancy role: assisting projects which were deemed to be high risk or under-resourced. This gave me a wide experience of policy areas, including one year as Deputy Manager in the Youth and Serious Crime Team. I worked on children in care, climate change, and corporate governance projects. In this role I revised a large number of GLA's corporate documents, I designed the GLA's project management framework and toolkit, (reducing the summary document from 30+ to 4 pages), their risk management approach, and grant funding toolkit, as well as editing the GLA's strategic plan 2010/11.

Responsible for the quality of project management standards across the council and the smooth running of the corporate programme (32 projects with a total value of £300m+). Haringey was thus referred to in an independent SOCITM scrutiny report: ‘project management is considered to be… in the top 10% of local authorities of which we have experience’ [Haringey Council Review of Programmes and Projects, 19/06/07]. This role included a training & organizational development aspect, I re-designed the Haringey's project management framework and all of their PPM training materials.Programme Management Office function: critically evaluate overall progress of projects; challenging, as appropriate, project risks, issues, timescales & budgets. This gave me a great oversight of a very wide range of projects, from education to regeneration.

Initially my role was to update and simplify the Best Value Performance Indicator set. I overhauled the guidance and worked hard in negotiations with other government departments to keep the number of BVPIs down. Later, when a more radical redesign was undertaken, I was responsible for primary and secondary research and analysis to aid the development of the new local government information framework policy. I was nominated for a Deputy Prime Minister's Achievement Award for this work.I advised the Local Government White Paper Team, helping them to gain a good understanding of the performance management systems across Whitehall, to reduce the burdens those systems place on local government.
