With more than a decade of experience in public relations for the performing arts, Katy Salomon is known for her uniquely holistic brand strategy with a focus on storytelling, realized through the execution of press and marketing campaigns for artists, arts institutions, and recording projects. Recent projects include the Sphinx Organization’s 25th anniversary and debut album on Deutsche Grammophon, the 30th anniversary of the Verbier Festival, and the 25th anniversary of the MATA Festival, among many other celebrations.Bringing a specialized expertise in album promotion, she has facilitated GRAMMY Award®-winning press campaigns for The Philadelphia Orchestra and Yannick Nézet-Séguin, three awards with new music choir The Crossing, and GRAMMY Award®-nominated albums by composer Julia Wolfe with the New York Philharmonic, PUBLIQuartet, baritone Will Liverman, composers Anna Thorvaldsdóttir and Du Yun, International Contemporary Ensemble, and more. Salomon has maintained a long collaboration with Azica Records, working with the label on all three volumes of the Catalyst Quartet's acclaimed UNCOVERED series.Salomon started her career working for the legendary Lois Cohn on accounts such as the Caramoor Center for Music and the Arts and the Ravinia Festival, and for Christina Jensen PR/Jensen Artists, where her accounts included Sony Masterworks, Bang on a Can and American Composers Orchestra. She worked for five years as Account Director at Morahan Arts and Media, where she oversaw a public relations and digital marketing roster spanning multiple elite artists and institutions. Key projects included select releases on Decca and Deutsche Grammophon, plus work for the International Contemporary Ensemble, Wet Ink Ensemble, The Crossing, Orpheus Chamber Orchestra, composer Anna Clyne, Alarm Will Sound, Sphinx Organization, Kronos Quartet, and many others.A classical cellist, Salomon has a Bachelor of Arts in Music from Florida State University and a Masters of Arts in Music Business from New York University. Prior to commencing her professional work, Salomon studied corporate and consumer product branding at NYU’s Stern School of Business and completed internships at many of the classical music industry’s PR firms. She guest lectures each semester at the University of North Carolina Asheville’s Music Business Program and has spoken on panels presented by the American Composers Orchestra and Opera America, among others.
