As a member of the association's senior leadership team, I collaborated closely with executive leadership, overseeing the communications department and budget, negotiated vendor contracts, ran Request for Proposal processes and led a dynamic communications team, supporting events and general meetings, liaising with media, and developing campaigns and resources for provincial and municipal elections.•Led a communications team in developing and implementing communications and marketing strategies.•Identifying challenges and emerging issues.•Developing messaging and implementation plans for internal and external audiences including members and key stakeholders including government, partners, and media.•Leading the development of strategic messaging for the association for proactive communications, responses to inquiries, and in response to crisis situations.•Cultivating and enhancing meaningful relationships with key stakeholders.•Providing guidance, expertise and reporting in all areas of communications.

I identified communication business needs across all departments while providing guidance and mentorship to the communications team and others. This included the development of an annual communications strategy, implementing the use of new tools and technology, and developing targeted campaigns.

Reporting to the Manager of Communications, I supported the development of communications materials for the association. This included developing and reviewing materials as needed for all departments, assessment of current processes, identifying cross-department needs, and the development of content for web, social media, digital and print resources, briefing notes, and media materials.

As the communications manager of a local hospitality group, I developed and implemented a comprehensive social media strategy across all channels for four locations. Within this role I curated engaging content, managed the online community, and oversaw e-commerce operations. This role included extensive community outreach and collaboration with local vendors, to orchestrate dynamic events and sourced unique products. I fostered impactful partnerships with organizations such as the Edmonton Humane Society and the Boys and Girls Clubs of Edmonton, to bring vibrancy and enhance community engagement and brand enhancement.

In my role as a reporting intern, I produced one to three articles daily, covering a variety of issues including policy and legislation, showcasing my proficiency in content creation and my ability to work efficiently under pressure. Through this experience, I sharpened my research skills and enhanced my interpersonal communication abilities. Operating within concurrent, tight deadlines, I thrived in a high-pressure environment, often working long and unpredictable hours, including frequent domestic travel for conducting interviews. I prioritized relationship-building across diverse sectors, demonstrating my commitment to fostering lasting connections while delivering quality journalism.
