This is a volunteer position. I became a parent member of the Cardiac Patient Family Advisory Council (Cardiac PFAC) in August of 2020. Then advanced to serving as Co-Chair in January of 2022. The mission is to work alongside providers and staff to improve communication and practices within Children’s Mercy’s Heart Center. My main functions are:-Assist with planning and leading the bi-monthly meetings. Set-up and publish the agenda. Take the meeting minutes. -Lead the communications sub-committee, specifically coordinate and preside over additional monthly meetings, set-up and publish the agenda, take meeting minutes, and assist in drafting and publishing the quarterly newsletter on behalf of the Heart Center. -Work in another committee with providers, staff, and families to improve the discharge process for the cardiac team. -Work on the planning committee for the annual Parent Symposium.
