I lead our Education Programs team, including School Programs, Teen Programs, and Teacher Programs. I lead these teams in developing and communicating division-wide and program-specific visions, core beliefs, outcomes, and strategies. I serve as project manager for program and curriculum development projects. I led the Education Division's digital engagement strategy during the pandemic, which included the creation of self-paced online courses that have reached more than 50,000 people in 95 countries and every US state.

I continued to serve on the management team of the education division, making strategic and personnel decisions, as well as writing and managing the budget for STEM integration. I oversaw the creation of the new Innovation Lab, in our Bechtel Center for Ocean Education and Leadership. I managed this space, focused on engineering in the service of ocean conservation, and the programs that use it. I spearheaded the development of several new education programs, with specific emphasis in Project-Based Learning, Maker Ed, STEM integration and NGSS, including Design for the Ocean (8th-10th graders), the Teen Conservation Leaders Maker Track (high school), and a new distance learning initiative. I oversaw STEM integration in all teen, teacher, and field trip programs. I support education staff in STEM integration pedagogy, with a focus on ocean conservation.

I served on the management team of the education division, making strategic and personnel decisions, as well as writing and managing the budget for digital learning. I worked with the leads of teen programs, teacher programs and school programs to meaningfully integrate technology to support our learning objectives. I was involved in education program development and expansion, with specific emphasis in Project-Based Learning, Maker Ed, STEM integration and NGSS. I co-created and led a first-of-its-kind teen program in which high school students run by-teens, for-teens social media accounts, under the Aquarium brand. I coached PreK through 12th-grade teachers on integrating technology into their classrooms, with a focus on pedagogy and application through iPads and web-based software such as Google apps. I regularly presented at regional and national conferences regarding the integration of technology to support STEM. I led the Aquarium's education technology workgroup, consisting of 9 staff members, and I oversaw an annual conference for PK-12 teachers called Connecting Conservation and Technology. I also served on the committee that guided the design of the $42-million Bechtel Family Center for Ocean Education and Leadership, a LEED Gold building that opened in 2019.

I built and maintained a social networking website, using Drupal, to support the Aquarium's education programs. I also worked to integrate the use of cell phones and web 2.0 tools into our teen and teacher programs. I spearheaded the purchase and integration of 200 iPads to support our learning objectives and wrote K-12 curriculum integrating science, technology and conservation concepts. I created and ran an annual one-day conference for PK-12 teachers called Connecting Conservation and Technology.

New Orleans, La

I taught 5th- and 6th-grade science at this newly opened school. I collaborated with the staff to develop a strong culture of learning and respect, regularly working 12-hour days and 6-day weeks. I helped design the science pacing guide for three KIPP: New Orleans schools and, as the only science teacher at my school, chose to purchase and implement FOSS and STC curriculum. I also acted as the school's education technology specialist and taught a film-making elective.

Phoenix, Az

I worked as a 3rd-grade student teacher for a year and then as a full-time self-contained 4th-grade teacher, teaching TERC Investigations math, FOSS science, and Lucy Calkins Units of Study writing curriculum. I taught after-school reading and math intervention. I also led an after-school math club, chess club, and broadcast news club. As the school's education technology specialist, FOSS science trainer of trainers, and Promethean Activboard trainer of trainers, I regularly led teacher professional development for the school and district.
