Responsible for overseeing the day-to-day activities required to achieve LCCR's policy goals related to juvenile life without parole (JLWOP) and other juvenile sentencing reform, including:* Legislative Advocacy - targeted outreach to, and education of, legislators and other policy stakeholders - drafting testimony, and coordinating and prepping witnesses for committee hearings - drafting relevant bill language and talking points for legislators* Coalition Building and Stakeholder Outreach - building relationships with state and national actors, educating them on JLWOP and other extreme sentencing of juveniles in the adult system - coordinating constituent outreach to legislators - keeping coalition partners updated, as appropriate, on legislative progress * Public Education and Media Engagement - creating and maintaining a set of advocacy and media materials - ensuring that media messaging is both occurring and happening in ways helpful to the legislative campaign

* Work with the Executive Director to develop and implement NJPC’s policy agenda and legislative priorities;* Track, analyze, and summarize data, research, and state and federal laws affecting children and youth in the criminal justice system; * Analyze and draft regulatory and legislative language;* Build relationships with policymakers and their staff;* Represent NJPC at coalition meetings;* Interview parents of children currently incarcerated to collect further data on their child’s demographics, system involvement, education, etc. to address gaps in information related to youth tried in the adult criminal system* Correspond with incarcerated youth.
