I founded and write a food newsletter called Nosh Box. Each issue tells the story of an ingredient, brand, dish, or policy through articles, podcasts, videos, recipes, gifs, and more. Twice a week (formerly daily), I strive to dig deep into where our food comes from, why we eat it, and how we can all think a little more deeply about what we're consuming. As an assistant city editor on the public safety and health beat at the daily Columbia Missourian, I worked with editors and student reporters to produce coverage of health care, crime, and wellness topics. I also assigned breaking news stories, edited in-person with writers, and attended budget and print meetings.I also worked as an assistant city editor at the Missourian from June to August 2016.

As an intern at Plateselector, I translated restaurant guides and features from Spanish to English for Plateselector's website, as well as translating recipes for Pastoret Yogurt, a local company, and menus for Pork & Tuna, a local restaurant, both of which Plateselector is doing public relations work for. I also wrote about Last Monkey, an Asian fusion restaurant, in Spanish.

As a contributing writer at Vox Magazine, a city magazine in Columbia, Missouri, I covered the city's food scene and wrote two features for print issues. One of these stories, an exploration of food, race and historiography through the story of Annie Fisher, an early-20th-century beaten biscuit cook in Columbia who was one of the most successful black female entrepreneurs of her time but has now been largely forgotten, won a Best Writing on Food award in the student division from the Association of Food Journalists in 2018.

As a research and writing intern for Food Tank: The Think Tank for Food, I wrote pieces for FoodTank.com and president Danielle Nierenberg's weekly newsletter, which has over 350,000 subscribers. I also helped out with background research projects and collaborating on opinion articles. My areas of coverage included sustainable agriculture, food waste, and local food.

I led and oversaw all aspects of the functioning of a daily online and weekly print campus publication, including hiring, firing, training, supervising and setting salaries for 18 editors and upwards of 100 staffers. I also created a 12-month strategic plan and set the vision for editorial content and the visual identity of the publication, daily email newsletter and social media channels.

As a beat reporter on the public health and safety beat, I reported on stories relating primarily to drug crimes, abuse, and health care access and discrimination. I've written daily-turn stories as well as longer, more in-depth reporting.My story on the struggles local pharmacists face working in Missouri, the only U.S. state without a prescription drug monitoring program, shared a first-place win for local business coverage from the Missouri Press Association in 2017.
