Mini thesis topic: A Voronoi Tessellation based approach to generate Microstructure models of WC-Co Hardmetals

Mechanical Design of special purpose CNC machines for gundrilling, boring, milling, grinding etcetera for several national and international automotive firms like Honda Motors, Toyota, John Deere, Hero Motor Corporation and Maruti Suzuki India Ltd to name a few. As a part of my daily work, I worked on Softwares like Solidworks and AutoCAD to design these machines. I also had to take on the challenge to prioritise and then complete the drawings of the components or sub-assemblies which would have a longer lead time or if they were any critical or novel parts. This also helped me gain expertise in GD&T.I was in constant communication with customers for design approvals and with the colleagues in the supply chain team, the assembly and application team and the sales team.As a part of standardization of the design calculations, I was a part of a three-member team which created macros in Microsoft Excel. This aided in bringing down the design calculation time required to select cutting tools for the cutting operations depending on the size and material of the component and the cycle time in which it had to be machined, selection of AC induction motors, selection of bearings in spindles, among others.
