Profile bio

About Kaustubh Phanse

I am a cross-functional leader with a global mindset and thrive on the intersections of technology, design, and people. My approach is rooted in design thinking, emotional intelligence, servant leadership, and having a sense of purpose.Starting as a technologist 20 years ago, with a Ph.D. from Virginia Tech and a career in academia—as a professor in Sweden, I quickly adapted to working in a fast-paced startup environment. Operating out of India and Silicon Valley, I donned multidisciplinary hats based on situational needs spanning wireless network R&D, software engineering, UI/UX design, product management, and marketing, building many of these teams from scratch. Along the way, I helped two startups grow from early/mid-stage to successful acquisitions by large public companies. As a product and design leader, I have taken products from inception to launch, while successfully transforming organizational design maturity by evangelizing design thinking and user- and data-driven design as a strategy. I have worked on B2B, B2C, and B2B2C products, and led the entire UI/UX design and product development process—from user research to design handoffs all the way to the final product. I firmly believe that remarkable, long-lasting user experiences are possible only by empathizing and immersing oneself with real users to thoroughly understand their needs, behaviors, contexts, motivations, and pain points, and then designing, building, and testing products based on those learnings. I lead to inspire, believe in influence than authority, and am often able to see skills and talents that people don’t realize they have. I focus on providing my teammates with a clear sense of purpose and creating an environment of trust, ownership, and accountability where they can enjoy themselves and be at their best. The outcome, invariably, is a high-performance team made up of happy individuals and a strong sense of camaraderie and belonging.

Listed skills include Management, Product Management, Wireless Networking, Wireless, and 15 others.
