Principal Investigator on DOE HPC4EI project with Oakridge National Laboratories to develop thermomechanical forming process to produce tailored strength automotive components. Led the creation of new advanced engineering laboratory to support enhanced material characterization needs. Acquired Zwick 16020 HTM and Z100 UTM machine to determine material properties over a wide range of strain rates (10-3/s to ~1000/s) and over a temperature range from -50 C to +250 C. Staffed laboratory with Ph.D. level engineer and technician. Maintain active project portfolio supporting research projects and component level material testing for OEM customers.
