During my time as a trainee at Nestle Lanka Kurunegala factory, I was a part of the production group 2. As a trainee, I was given the opportunity to work on various projects that helped me develop a range of technical and soft skills.One of my main projects involved working on the PLC automation of the Milkmaid filling and seaming machine. This machine is used to fill and seal cans of Milkmaid, which is a popular brand of sweetened condensed milk. I worked closely with the production team to understand the requirements and design a PLC program that could automate the process.Another project I worked on was the development of a Power BI dashboard for energy consumption of production group 2. The dashboard provided real-time data on energy consumption, which helped the production team identify areas for improvement and optimize energy usage.In addition to these projects, I also had the opportunity to work on various other tasks and assignments during my traineeship. Some of these included:#Conducting time studies and process mapping for production lines to identify areas for improvement and optimization#Collaborating with the safety team to develop safety protocols and procedures for new machinery#Participating in cross-functional teams to solve production issues and improve efficiencyThrough these experiences, I developed a range of soft skills, such as communication, teamwork, problem-solving, and adaptability. I also gained a better understanding of the various functions and departments within a manufacturing plant and how they work together to achieve common goals.
