As a social media manager, life is never boring and each day brings new opportunities and challenges. Working in this fluid, dynamic field is always exciting and fun. I love social media and blogging because they are great tools to build your network and connect with people and brands. Social media has given brands the opportunity to engage with their followers on a mass scale, but still retain that individualized attention that we all want. Finding that middle ground is a constant balancing act but completely worth the effort.I am currently working as a social media specialist for The Social Element, producing content and engaging communities for brands owned by Mondelez North America, including OREO, Sour Patch Kids, and Chips Ahoy!. I also volunteer my services to Sayfty (a nonprofit aimed towards raising awareness about violence against women), creating a weekly Instagram Reels series (Get Ready with Kavita) as well as consulting on their social media strategies. After completing my MBA at Rutgers, I worked for a startup social media company called SPORTalk, as the social media manager, where I learned so much and gained invaluable experience in social media, marketing, and the startup scene. On any given day, I crafted and curated content for our social media posts and website, oversaw intern-managed Facebook and Twitter accounts, assessed our social media strategy, and managed our company blog.
