Hi everyone,If I were to describe myself in a line I would say “I dare to dream and I dare to do.”I am something of a serial entrepreneur and I believe that if you can imagine it, then you can achieve it. However, I have also realised that not everyone can do both, some are good at one and others are good at the second.This led me to launch Head Start Mentorship, an early years mentorship program for middle and high school students that gives the dreamers a safe space to voice their dreams and the doers get a platform doused with creative input that allows them to achieve.I believe that every student has that spark. Every student can be set up for success and every student should enjoy the right to opportunity.As I co created the early years mentorship program, we allowed for students to identify their passions, we allowed for parents to deep dive and articulate aspirations, we allowed for individual student potential to shine and we allowed for realism to coexist with lofty desires.In today’s ultra competitive environment, it is an absolute necessity to equip students with foundational skill building irrespective of country, course or college they choose beyond school.Be it time management techniques, communication skills, writing expertise, research foundation, managing exam stress, identifying job shadow, internship opportunities, mock interviews, identifying passion projects…the list can go on. This need is met with monthly workshops and these learnings are augmented with one on one mentor meetings with students on a monthly basis which makes it an unique bespoke mentorship opportunity for each and every student.Does the programme micro manage ? The answer is No. But it addresses and understands the need that students are still growing and learning so they function best within a guideline that has clear deliverables to be achieved in a defined manner with an accountable deliverable.Is there a need at such a young age for students to have mentors? The answer is a resounding yes.
