About Dr.-Ing. Ines Kawgan-Kagan
I am passionate about innovative mobility, transport and gender and other diversity aspects. My mission is to promote social justice, equity and equality when it comes to mobility. This dimension of sustainability is often left out. I help companies in the field of transport and mobility to achieve diversity with a special focus on gender but not limited to it. This includes the work culture as well as the users.I wrote my PhD-thesis at the Technische Universität Berlin about the gender mobility gap when it comes to innovative mobility offers, and I work towards implementing the findings into practice. The knowledge about the gender mobility gap is older than myself but hasn’t made it into the consciousness of planners and providers.My interdisciplinary background leads to a holistic view on the topics of mobility, transport and society, and I want to create awareness of the topic and share my knowledge to shape future mobility.I am a passionate trainer and lecturer and totally proud of my four children and that I achieved all this not despite but because of them!

The so-called "Mobilitätswende" (transformation of mobility) as a social issue is intended to prevent and reduce traffic-induced emissions, both locally and globally. A society is just as diverse as the mobility and transport of the individuals in it. In order to shape the shift towards sustainable mobility technically and politically, a fundamental understanding of the mobility needs and behaviour of different groups of people is necessary. How do gender, age and health, for example, affect mobility in urban and rural areas? The foundation for such considerations is formed by scientific concepts such as mobility as distinct from transport, society and social structures, as well as concrete mobility and transport concepts. It is essential to know the social effects of the individual's choice of transport and to look at the causes of mobility behaviour, such as the choice of transport mode or the formation of trip chains, from different perspectives. These topics will be dealt with in the seminar using the example of the new mobility trends in urban areas, which bring enormous challenges to some groups of people.
