ABC began its tradition of providing quality education for school students in Abu Dhabi in 1979 as a Nursery. In September 2015, a new chapter in the life of the school began with a shift in location from the Abu Dhabi Island to a brand new facility in the city of Shamkha with a strength of 1700 students and a teaching staff over a 100 members.As HOD Science, I am responsible • To develop and implement policies and practices which reflect the school’s commitment to high achievement through effective teaching and learning.• To lead the subject staff in the teaching of the subject, and provide a role model for high quality teaching and learning in the subject, including use of new technologies. • To monitor and evaluate the department’s specification and schemes of work.• To engage all subject staff in the creation, consistent implementation and improvement of the schemes of work. • To ensure that all subject staff follow the agreed syllabus/specification.• To ensure that examinations or other suitable methods of assessment are devised and applied at appropriate times. To ensure that all tests, examinations and assessments are based on the department's specification and marked according to a scheme common to the whole year group.• To initiate and organise curricular and extra-curricular activities related to the subject.• To provide regular feedback and INSET to all subject staff on teaching and learning, which recognises good practice and supports their progress.• To monitor progress and evaluate the effects of any improvement strategies on teaching and learning by working alongside subject staff, analysing work and outcomes.• To provide regular feedback to the SLT to help the school evaluate its practice.• To give necessary help and guidance to all subject staff.• To help in the selection of teaching staff for the department.• To administer efficiently and effectively the resources and capitation of the department.

The school I am working in caters students from more than 77 countries and teaching staff from more than 31 countries. I am proud to be part of an international character, cultural diversity and the richness that this brings to the school. This makes the school a wonderful example of a successful international community characterised by our unity, encouragement and support of one another and our appreciation and understanding of the differences.I am responsible to prepares students for the IGCSE (General Certificate of Secondary Education), AS and A Levels for the subject of Chemistry. My examination results have been consistently above the U.K. national averages. As a chemistry teacher I am responsible for providing an educational atmosphere andimplementation of an instructional program that results in students achieving academicsuccess. Some of my highlighted duties are:- Implementing instructional activities that contribute to a climate where students are actively engaged in meaningful learning experiences.- Identifying, selecting and modifying instructional resources to meet the needs of the students with varying backgrounds, learning styles, and special needs.- Maintaining effective and efficient record keeping procedures.- Providing a positive environment in which students are encouraged to be actively engaged in the learning process.- Communicating effectively, both orally and in writing, with students, parents, and other professionals on a regular basis.- Collaborating with peers to enhance the instructional environment.- Ensuring that student growth and achievement are continuous and appropriate for age group, subject area, and program classification.- Managing classrooms by applying positive behaviour support.- Providing students with a safe classroom environment.
