A short term contract following Taratahi Institute of Agriculture going into liquidation.Working with a team to event manage and implement the Wings Over Wairarapa Air Festival over three days. Unfortunately day three was cancelled due to the weather. Main role was to communicate with and look after the exhibitors that came to the festival along with site planning for our STEM stations. Just basically rolled up my sleeves, got on and did stuff.

I was initially employed as Events Coordinator, and with refocussing of the organisation I moved into Business Development and International Coordinator and Business Development Manager roles within the Business Development team. The main focus of the role has been developing opportunities to increase revenue through identifying international and domestic options that align with Taratahi’s strategic goals.Key Areas of Activity:• Investigating and developing strategic business opportunities and strategic partnerships • Investigating strategic opportunities based on data, research, evidence and alignment with Taratahi’s overall strategy• Developing strategic plans and briefing papers for the CE, Executive team and Board• Participating on a number of cross-organisational projects related to the development and implementation of new systems and processes. Approximately five major projects in the last 18 months.• Providing leadership and guidance within the Business Development team development and implementation of systems.• Guiding, mentoring and supporting team members to develop and document work systems and processes, and then rolling out to the National and Regional offices.• Increasing revenue coming into the organisation both nationally and internationally by developing commercial/revenue generating opportunities with government departments, large corporate farming organisations, Maori businesses, Iwi, and international partners and recruitment agents• Ensuring a national approach to Business Development opportunities, systems, processes, strategic/important events, scholarships and sponsorships by taking a strategic approach to maximise opportunities and maintain consistency across the regions

Successfully managing 18 events across New Zealand. Developing and maintaining event management plans and critical path documents. Managing and reporting on events budget. Coordination of all event logistics, locations, speakers, catering, invitations etc. The project has very much depended on volunteers across New Zealand - to date we have over 5000 registered. Maximising opportunities for positive endorsement of sponsors and supporters. Working with the Marketing and Communications Manager on media opportunities.

Successful project management of the current New Zealand Retailers Association TOP SHOP® Retail Excellence Awards. This campaign runs on a bi-annual basis for nine months and culminates in four black-tie events throughout the country during October. The four events were attended by approximately 1700 people in total.Successfully assuming the responsibilities of the Marketing and Communications Manager with regard to the TOP SHOP® Retail Excellence Awards, when the current incumbent left to go on maternity leave.Effectively using all suitable marketing channels to promote the TOP SHOP® Awards to all retailers throughout New Zealand, including social media, websites and email communications.Managing the production of timely, accurate and cost effective communications materials to support events and working with major newspapers and radio stations to construct effective advertising schedules.Efficient and effective management of event budgets.
