I was the Lead officer for the day to day running of a range of landscape, environmental and cleansing locality services & initiatives including: Parish Environmental Teams, Estate Teams, Parish Partnerships, and community pay back scheme coordination, environmental improvements, parks & open spaces, play maintenance. I was responsible for Investigating, dealing with and responding to landscape, environmental and cleansing service initiatives, requests and complaints from all stakeholders, including liaison with Customers, Elected Ward, Parishes and other community groups, outside bodies. I monitored the performance of all contractors working on behalf of the grounds & cleansing services, ensuring that standards and quality are suitable for the service provided, as well as agreeing measures and variations. I advised on a range of environmental services, including: suitable environmental improvements such as planting schemes, sports pitch maintenance, parks & open spaces. I worked with the park staff and community groups to undertake a lead role in the planning and management of public events and other attractions within the parks network. I delivered an education programme for Schools from 'a Grow your own Grub' session to Pond Dipping, Bug Hunts and other environmental activities on request. I bid for and assisted Community Groups to bid for external funding to improve and develop parks and green spaces. I also assisted groups to secure funding for their running costs and events and activities they wish to carry out. I was responsible for developing and supervising volunteers providing guidance and training to increase their skills where required. I managed projects at all stages including identifying and designing schemes, bidding for funding, planning all work, supervising all work, submitting planning applications and liaising with all stakeholders ensuring works were within budget and deadlines. I had to ensure that the parks were safe for use and carried out risk assessments and also used guiding and negotiating skills to ensure our users use the parks in an acceptable manner.I delivered the community face of the parks by being approachable, knowledgeable and customer focused. I responded to or dealt with reports of incidents of anti-social behaviour, the improper use of facilities and breaches of park regulations. I submitted incident reports as required. I was responsible for the protection of staff and the public identifying and resolving where possible health and safety hazards observed on site, premises or equipment. I also had to be aware of the importance of effective communication with the general public, community groups and customers giving the opportunity to comment on the service being offered and raise awareness of issues and concerns. My role was to assist the Community Engagement Manager and Area Implementation Teams in the development, provision and promotion of community engagement ensuring the outcomes and targets set within the City Councils Sustainable Communities, Community Cohesions and Housing Involvement strategies were achieved. To achieve this I set up, developed and supported Resident Associations and Service Improvement Teams. I also oversaw the City Council Complaints Panel for Housing related issues.

I provided technical support for all matters relating to parks, park buildings, open spaces, water areas and community group initiatives. I was responsible for the repair and maintenance of buildings and infrastructure in parks and green spaces and also for prioritising the health and safety repairs within the allocated budget.
