I worked with the park staff and community groups to undertake a lead role in the planning and management of public events and other attractions within the parks network. I delivered an education programme for Schools from 'a Grow your own Grub' session to Pond Dipping, Bug Hunts and other environmental activities on request. I bid for and assisted Community Groups to bid for external funding to improve and develop parks and green spaces. I also assisted groups to secure funding for their running costs and events and activities they wish to carry out. I was responsible for developing and supervising volunteers providing guidance and training to increase their skills where required. I managed projects at all stages including identifying and designing schemes, bidding for funding, planning all work, supervising all work, submitting planning applications and liaising with all stakeholders ensuring works were within budget and deadlines. I also had to be aware of the importance of effective communication with the general public, community groups and customers giving the opportunity to comment on the service being offered and raise awareness of issues and concerns.
