I collaborated with a friend to create an organization to spread positivity and appreciation through COVID. Our club works with organizations and companies around the Bay Area to help encourage kindness and recognize those in our community most affected by the pandemic. We have taken on a multitude of projects, including building care packages for children in hospitals, creating holiday cards for senior homes who have had to turn away all volunteers, and creating holiday gifts for the homeless population.

There was lack of assistance for immigrants and new comers with English as a second language (ESL) in the San Mateo Foster City School District from grade 6 through 8. While these kids were taught English, they were not getting help in Math and Science where content was taught in English, creating a significant gap between them and their peers. I feel strongly that all children deserve equal footing, especially at the beginning of their lives. I worked to bridge this gap by designing and founding a non profit tutoring service called "Language Bridges" for kids like these throughout the district. Under the supervision of the District Director of Newcomer Wellness, a team of tutors and I work with a variety of kids from different countries, languages, and socio-economic backgrounds every week to provide them with resources to keep them on track for success in the future.
