In this summer internship, I got to interact with genetic counselors from a variety of backgrounds and specialty areas. This included shadowing genetic counselors in multiple specialty clinics: maternal fetal medicine, prenatal, perinatal care, cardiogenetics clinic, neurogenetics, cancer, pediatrics genetics, and personalized genomic medicine clinics. Over the summer I also completed full-time, hands-on projects in genetic counseling and personalized genomic medicine. Additionally, I was able to participate in enrichment activities, including seminars and workshops on graduate school and other careers.
