About Kayla Cardona

I am a higher education practitioner with a passion for student services, advising, and college transition/FTIC support.I love working with people, helping them dream, and developing meaningful and trusting relationships. I believe there is value to everyone's journey and I enjoy connecting people to resources that will holistically support their success. I am also a detailed, proactive problem-solver who values clear and efficient communication, and is skilled at identifying needs and developing a plan of action, whether with students, in the office, or in collaboration with other stakeholders.Currently, I serve as Senior Academic Advisor for Undergraduate Studies at the Frost School of Music, University of Miami, where I also have the privilege of facilitating a First Year Directions course. Prior to this role, I served nearly 5 years as Assistant to the Dean of Music (Staff Associate Senior) at New World School of the Arts, which exists in partnership with Miami-Dade College, The University of Florida, and Miami-Dade County Public Schools. In 2022, I earned my Master of Science degree in Higher Education Administration at Florida International University.
