Before working in the ER I was doing my externship at a small family practice office at the end of my externship I helped that doctor open his own practice and helped him run his office before accepting my position in the ER. Working in the ER the last 5 years has been the best decision ever! I have learned more things than I could possibly ever imagine, its so much more than just IV starts, EKG's, patient charting, Foley catheter inserts; it turned into patient hand holding, holding family members that have lost loved ones, holding parents that just lost their babies, delivering babies and being able to give them that first breath. The medical field is so much more than just a job, its a true blessing! I am also cross trained to be the medical secretary in the emergency room!
