Ecology and Geochemistry of Marine and Coastal Systems Lab (Dr. Lindsay Dubbs)- Researched carbon and nutrient fluxes in the waters of the marshes in the Albemarle Sound, NC as part of the NC Sea Grant-funded project for senior honors thesis - Designed independent study, including field methods and data analysis, based on literature review- Performed a variety of field experiments measuring carbon in water, collected several water parameters, analyzed data and performed statistics in R- Assisted with field work for the larger project focused on sedimentation deposition in coastal marshes in the Coastal Oceans and Observing Lab

- Completed field season in Buxton, NC with ten other students studying the rates of vegetation change in Buxton Woods Reserve from 1988 to present to inform management considerations- Interviewed Buxton community stakeholders using the Conceptual Content Cognitive Mapping (3CM) Method to analyze the human connection between natural spaces and sense of place and personal stewardship- Compiled findings in a formal capstone report and presented to Buxton residents and stakeholders

The Carbonshed Lab - Dr. Diego Riveros-Iregui (https://diegori.web.unc.edu)- Completed field season for National Science Foundation (NSF)-funded International Research Experience for Undergraduates project in Cayambe Coca National Park, Ecuador to understand the role of wetland connectivity in controlling greenhouse gas emissions and downstream carbon fluxes from headwater tropical streams- Performed a variety of experiments measuring carbon in water and the atmosphere, managed large datasets, analyzed data in R, flew drones and analyzed videos and images in Arc GIS Pro- Completed field season for NSF-funded project in Durham, NC where beaver dams and water retention ponds are studied in urban settings for effectiveness at removing pollutants - Collected water samples, discharge, and other parameters - Delineated watersheds and analyzed drone images using Arc GIS Pro
