In this role, my responsibilities include independently running multiple rooms at one time, switching between them as required, as well as adapting my approach to each group based on their demeanour and performance. When I commenced this job, I had to learn details about each of the puzzle rooms, drawing on my ability to learn relevant information quickly. I also developed a high level of flexibility, as each individual group requires unique clues based on their performance and the questions they ask. I learned to think quickly on my feet to provide these clues with only a few moments to think about my response. This also requires very clear communication skills so as to avoid misunderstandings. Additionally, I was responsible for making, rescheduling and cancelling bookings, as well as communicating with customers about inquiries both through email and over the phone. This has further developed my strong communication skills.

In this role, my responsibilities include handling high-value items as well as managing customer complaints and other requests. This requires me to listen and understand customers’ needs and, at times, negotiate difficult conversations. I have also gained valuable experience in merchandising and creating aesthetically pleasing displays. Being a jewellery store, I was also held to high levels of personal presentation and punctuality, as well as a high standard of professionalism in my communication with customers and workplace demeanour.

In this role, my responsibilities included serving customers as well as managing end-of-day banking and overseeing the opening and closing of the store. The store was always extremely busy, allowing me to develop my customer service skills in a fast-paced environment. It also helped me develop my interpersonal communication and teamwork skills, as I worked with the other retail staff as well as the bakers to ensure the smooth running of the store.
