Historic Preservation Consultant
CurrentConducts historic preservation research with primary and secondary sources. Writes historic contexts for counties and cities.Conducts research in local, state, and/or national archives, museums, libraries, and historical societies for projects.Conducts fieldwork including, recording structures in the field and on site file forms, photographing structures, preparing the write-up for reports.Completes eligibility reviews for the National Register of Historic Places.Prepares nominations and submits to the National Register of Historic Places.Conducts HABS (Historic American Building survey)/HAER (Historic American Engineering Record) level work.Completes Section 106 reviews to ensure compliance with federal laws related to historic preservation and determines the proposed projects’ effect on cultural and/or historic resources.Ensures research quality, research integrity, and original authorship of all project deliverables.
