As the Communications Catalyst I worked in conjunction with Spruce Root and the Sustainable Southeast Partnership (SSP). I was responsible for the development, management, and coordination of communications for the Sustainable Southeast Partnership. I managed emerging and innovative communications projects, including the development of an annual SSP communications, outreach and engagement strategy, growing funding for new programs, and positioning the SSP within Southeast Alaska communities to achieve the objectives of the Partnership.Spruce Root Inc. is a 501(c)(3) non-profit Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI) creating a sustainable future for Southeast Alaska’s people, communities, and environment. In the summer and fall of 2022, I interned with Barnacle Foods as a Marketing intern. In this position, I created a strategy for social media outreach and was a content creator. I started Barnacle's Tik Tok, which has reached over 300k followers, with the most viral video reaching 48 million views and several others reaching over million of views. During my internship at Barnacle, I gained valuable experience in drone operation and aerial mapping techniques, specifically focusing on Southeast Alaska's kelp beds. The surveys aimed to assess bull kelp abundance, canopy cover, and life cycle dynamics. I used the integration of my traditional ecological wisdom and Indigenous knowledge with western scientific approaches to explore pathways for equitable and sustainable kelp harvesting practices.Part 107 Certified

During my time as an Archives Intern, I learned the importance and significance of working with collections, objects, and archives. I was taught how to properly care for Native artifacts and historical objects to be prepared and made for public viewing. I made comprehensive finding aids available to researchers by analyzing the content, and determining the historical context.
