In college everyone learns theory, but some also seek practice.I always liked to study, so it was natural to undertake two majors-- Film and Media Studies and Writing and Literature. I managed to graduate with honors while working multiple jobs to support myself. My financial needs kept me from having the time to experience industry internships, but they shaped me into an extremely hard worker who does not shy away from any kind of task. The entertainment industry can be cutthroat, but I am positive of my passion for helping people tell the best stories they can and promote a positive change in the world through storytelling. What made me sure I chose the right path was being the president of UCSB’s screenwriting club (Writer's Room), where I coordinated World Farm, its annual conference. With a restricted budget and set date that coincided with the biggest film festival of the industry, I had to use the best of my oral and written communication skills to persuade important professionals to attend our conference. Furthermore, I had to coordinate, delegate, schedule, generate reports and execute general management tasks that pushed me to my limits, all for a three day conference. At points I was extremely overwhelmed, but I maintained a level head and kept pushing. When the feedback reports came back from the attendees and I read about how valuable the conference had been to them, I was certain all the stress had been worth it. So I organized the event again the following year. I do not run away from the exertion of a job. I like to be challenged and focus on my attention to detail, even for the most minimal tasks. I am disciplined and solution-oriented with a passion that fuels me. While I know my education was worth it, it was definitely just the beginning!
