My job as a youth relationship education coordinator with USU Extension is mostly about teaching a research and evidence-based curriculum called Love Notes 4.0. This 13-lesson curriculum embeds sex education into a larger curriculum on life planning, healthy relationship formation, and healthy relationship maintenance. I enjoy forming trusting relationships with my students as I open their eyes to new, healthy, evidence-based ways of having intentional romantic relationships. Outside of teaching at places like Provo Canyon School, Imperial Healing House, and online groups, I spend my work hours at home preparing lessons, completing administrative tasks, working on team projects, answering student notecard questions, and coordinating with youth sites for youth and parent classes. I've also taken the initiative on many projects for my team, such as:- Fulfilling an outreach requirement by creating teen-friendly Tiktoks (@hruteens) about how to form healthy relationships. These videos have been able to supplement Love Notes lessons for the team. - Creating more polished, user-friendly advertising and class materials for site staff and students- Organizing and leading brainstorming sessions with the team about unique ways to deliver Love Notes content while still fulfilling fidelity to the curriculum- Creating lesson outlines for team to use for time management- and any other organization materials needed for the team to more easily perform dutiesThe Office of Population Affairs funds my salary, technology, and student lesson materials through a Utah State University grant for 2023-2028.
