I have been drawn to Occupational Therapy because I am passionate about being a change maker from the level of the individual to systemic levels. As a Student and then an Occupational Therapist, I have been fortunate to be on teams of people with lived and professional expertise. I have seen the changes that occur when we all band together. The hope that can be cultivated during some of the darkest times of someone’s life. Within this profession, I have been taught that hope is not produced by only focusing on the body, but by being holistic, respecting the brain, spirit and impact of the environments and systems in place. To me, to be an Occupational Therapist means to remain critical and step back to understand the context of each situation. It means to approach situations with cultural safety, humility and an openness to learn. It means to never plateau but to always challenge myself to learn more and be the best I can be. I am on LinkedIn in order to grow my network and maintain connections.
