I have moved my Wills and Estates and Real Estate practice to Sheppard Braun Muma

Kaylea practices in the areas of corporate and commercial law, estate planning, wills and trusts, powers of attorney, health care directives and dependant adult guardianships and trusteeships. Kaylea also handles all manner of real estate transactions, residential and commercial.

I was called to the Alberta Bar in September 2008 after articling with Warren Sinclair LLP and then continued to work as an associate lawyer in the firm after that. I gained experience in the areas of Civil Litigation, Wills and Estates, Guardianships and Trusteeships, Real Estate, and Corporate law.

As a teaching assistant I assisted in teaching legal principles as they relate to aboriginal land management. I also mentored and tutored students, and assisted in skill development.

As a teaching/research assistant I assisted in teaching the Real Property component of the program including tutoring and mentoring students and teaching skill development and legal principles. I also researched legal education and Aboriginal law issues.

As an administrative assistant I processed various applications to the Board. I also had the opportunity to clerk hearings held at the Board office and attended pre-hearing mediation. I researched and briefed cases regarding the Trade Union Act and similar statutes in other jurisdictions.

I searched land titles and prepared and registered title transfer, mortgage and discharge documents. I also provided customer service to banks and other lenders. From August 2002 - April 2003 I trained and managed six part time employees during which time my duties included scheduling and supervision of those employees.

As a customer service representative I processed day-to-day transactions for customers and provided answers to and fulfilled customer requests. I also participated in and won several employee sales competitions and continually exceeded the sales targets laid out for me by my managers.
