Analyzed, developed, and revised inspector training curriculum and provided process improvement consultation for the Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration. Redesigned and converted curriculum for virtual online instructor-led delivery with a blend of synchronous and asynchronous techniques, including a flipped classroom approach. Developed leadership curriculum for the International Association of Fire Chiefs, including an interactive, scenario-based, graphic-novel-style course focused on diversity and inclusion. Supported business development efforts by reviewing contract opportunities, developing proposals, creating portfolio videos, and writing website copy.

Conducted training needs analysis in support of a large oil & gas industry client's implementation of an Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) solution involving SAP and ACTS software, along with process and organizational changes. I worked with the OTC, EHS, RTR, and PTP value streams.

Led the entire life cycle of dozens of projects, including conducting needs assessments and content analysis, collaborating with subject matter experts, determining project needs and resources, developing and tracking the project schedule and budget, writing and editing content, determining instructional strategies, and conducting quality assurance. Mentored a team of instructional designers and coordinated graphics, audio, and programming resources. Designed and led the development of more than 50 web-based, instructor-led, and blended learning solutions for FEMA, USAF, CDC, OPM, and other government agencies and private sector clients. Supported business development efforts by reviewing contract opportunities, developing proposals, and making capabilities presentations.

After creating many of my own instructional materials due to budget constraints over my teaching career, I started my own small business, Visual Educational Resources, or VER (which means "to see" in Spanish). I created and marketed interactive multimedia educational products for foreign language teachers and learners, in consultation with subject matter experts as appropriate. I exhibited materials at state foreign language teaching conferences and developed custom solutions as needed.

I taught secondary Spanish I & II classes in a public high school with approximately 1,100 students. As with my previous teaching positions, I developed lesson plans in accordance with standards, wrote assessment instruments, created and delivered presentations, and facilitated plenary group and small group discussions that fostered a collaborative and student-centric learning environment. I also served on the School Improvement Plan Committee, supporting the improvement of student writing across the curriculum.

I taught secondary Spanish II and secondary Creative Writing in a public high school of approximately 600 students, in a district recognized as the best in the state and among the best in the nation. The faculty as a whole focused on teachers as designers of engaging and meaningful work, and it was at this school that the instructional designer in me was born, although she had been at work for years already, creating learning materials and incorporating instructional technology in my classroom.I also sponsored Interact Club, a community service organization affiliated with Rotary Club, and won Outstanding Interact Club of the Year, 2003.

I oversaw the education program for a tutoring center, in conjunction with the Center Director. In this role, I hired and supervised instructors, administered placement assessments, created and managed individual education plans for each student (including tracking achievement of goals), coordinated with parents and off-site teachers (i.e., public or private school teachers), and initiated a bilingual community outreach program to educate parents on helping their children with study skills.

I taught secondary English I & II and Spanish I & II at small rural schools. I created and implemented a sequential school-wide foreign language program for grades 1-12 in which younger students were introduced to the concept of foreign languages and learned limited vocabulary in several languages, while older students focused on developing a deeper understanding of one language. I also sponsored the Spanish Club, organized and oversaw the Jr.-Sr. Prom, and served on a textbook committee.

Upon recommendation from the English Department co-chair, I taught zero-level English classes (developmental writing) in the University Learning Center. For these classes, I developed lesson plans and submitted them for approval of the Learning Center Director, and I instructed classes of approximately 30 students. In addition, I assisted with zero-level reading classes, administered placement exams, and tutored college students in English and reading, including ESL/ELL.
