Trainee Accountant at CBS

- Production of accurate monthly management accounts for Bannatyne Spa Hotel (Charlton House) Limited, Bannatyne’s Limited (T/A Bar Bannatyne) and Bannatyne Media Ltd- Production of accurate monthly Balance Sheets for Bannatyne Spa Hotel (Charlton House) Limited, Bannatyne’s Limited (T/A Bar Bannatyne) and Bannatyne Media Ltd- Investigation of nominal variances and the production of balance sheet reconciliations for the nominal accounts relating to these companies- Production of consolidated Balance Sheet- Report on capital projects for the Hotels group and keep the hire purchase schedules up to date- Assist with the preparation of budgets for the Hotels group- Prepare the VAT returns for the Hotels group- Prepare weekly, fortnightly and monthly reports for Directors- Ensure sales ledger accounts are controlled- Ensure licences are up to date and renewed on a timely basis- Handle queries relating to the Hotels group and produce required information in a timely and accurate manner- Recognise the confidential nature of the position and ensure that confidential information is not discussed inappropriately - Supply stocktakers with information ahead of each stocktake. As well as analyse completed stocktake

- Preparation of weekly takings reports and accurate KPI’s for the board of directors- Assisting in the preparation of the monthly management accounts; producing sales, wages, accruals, prepayments, cost of sales, depreciation journals- Completion of Profit and Loss variance analysis- Assisting in the reconciliation of Intercompany transactions with the Bannatyne Group. - Maintaining the Hotel Group Fixed Asset registers totalling £5,000,000- Assisting in the preparation of quarterly VAT returns- Maintaining and reconciling 4 bank accounts- Posting and allocating payments and receipts using Sage 200- Credit control - Authorising and reviewing invoices to ensure they are coded to the correct nominal- Petty Cash reconciliation for all hotels and bar- Assisting the hotel and bar staff in adhering to the company financial and operational policies, providing support when necessary

I was placed at Adams Irving Majeed through my Business Administration NVQ as a receptionist/Payroll Clerk. After working for the company for a number of years I realised my passion for accountancy and was lucky enough to assist with accounts preparation. My duties in the position were as follows: - Admin- dealing with correspondence, stationary orders, setting up new clients, weekly time entry for staff, general administration work including faxing, filing, photocopying, shredding and franking post- Reception- answering calls, face to face interaction with clients, handling Partners schedules- Payroll- P11ds, P35s- Production of Weekly, 4 Weekly and Monthly payroll- Interaction with HMRC- keeping abreast of new legislation as well as regular contact via post and telephone with regards to client queries- Company formation as well as the filing of company annual returns- Bookkeeping/Accounts preparation and VAT- Iris / Sage software- Accounts production as well as a wide knowledge of Iris Practice Manager
