Women, Arts, and Social Change (WASC), NMWA's new public program initiative launched in October 2015. Reflecting the progressive spirit of advocacy for women that is a core value of the museum, WASC embodies NMWA’s mission to champion women through the arts through programming highlighting women and the arts as catalysts for change.Programming features FRESH TALK with women artists, designers, and innovators and others from across disciplines engaged in creative conversations and addressing issues in education, health, disaster relief, economic opportunity and sustainability, the environment, violence, and conflict resolution. In my role, I developed participatory activities to engage our audiences deeper into the conversation. Activities to empower audiences in critical thinking and problem solving that provide a platform for socially conscious innovations and ideas to transform communities, raise awareness, and activate the museum as a place for social change.
