About Kayleigh B.

Born and raised in Northwestern Ontario, my appreciation for management and coordination began as I watched family members operate a summer camp and retreat centre. Before I knew it, I was coordinating events and programming on my own. I have had the privilege to coordinate programming for the Sioux Lookout Skating Club in the past (and present!). As the Executive Assistant for the Sioux Lookout Chamber of Commerce, coordinating the bi-weekly farmers markets and member events were my favourite tasks. As a graduate of Business Management & Entrepreneurship, and more recently Algonquin College’s Event Management Graduate Certificate program, I have gained valuable experience and skills in the areas of management, collaboration, and creative problem solving. The opportunity to work with and learn from industry leaders and experts across Canada is something I will always be grateful for.     After volunteering as a CanSkate Program Assistant for several years, I went through official Skate Canada training to become a Club Coach in 2016. Now a fully Certified Club Coach, I work hard to ensure that a high quality learn- to-skate program is made available to skaters of all ages and skating ability. During my time as a Certified Club Coach, I have: -Planned and organized a 20-week session for 40+ skaters -Led a team of two other coaches -Trained and supervised Program Assistants -Maintained records of skater progress -Ran two successful CanSkate Exhibition Events with the help of volunteers None of this would have been possible without the help of my former coach and my CanSkate mentor coach as I was going through training.
