Project Geologist
Current• Management of project budgets (both set-fee and time-and-expense) and scheduling from initial site visits through project completion• Preparation and review of geotechnical and engineering geologic investigation proposals and reports, supplemental recommendation letters, and interim construction observation letters• Review and interpretation of geologic maps, hazard maps, geotechnical and geologic reports prepared by outside consultants, historic construction documentation, and historic aerial photographs • Manage and perform engineering geologic and geotechnical investigations, including fault location projects, liquefaction analyses, slope stability analyses, and subsurface investigation activities (shored fault trenches and test pits, portable and truck-mounted drilling and sampling, CPT, and logging/interpretation of the exposed cuts, samples, and/or cuttings)• Review of proposed construction plans for compliance with geotechnical recommendations and provide plan review comments and recommendations to the design team• Schedule visits with contractors to perform construction site observation, testing, and analysis, including observation of foundations (pier drilling, footing excavations, and underpinnings), surface and subsurface drainage, and testing of sub grade and engineered fill compaction • Assign and perform laboratory analytical programs, including material classification using USCS, Atterberg limits testing, free swell testing, moisture/density testing, and compaction curve preparation
