Hello, I'm Kay Wightman, a changemaker and the founder of Accounting for Good CIC, a community interest company that believes in the power enterprise to drive positive change. As a disabled person, I understand firsthand the challenges faced by individuals with long-term health conditions and disabilities. At Accounting for Good, we provide exceptional accountancy, tax and consultancy services and expertise to empower changemakers and individuals with long-term health conditions and disabilities who are running their own businesses.With 35 years of experience in accounting and consultancy, I have dedicated my career to supporting and empowering those who make a difference in our communities. My journey began with a first-class honours degree in accounting, followed by a postgraduate certificate in education and a postgraduate diploma in marketing from the Chartered Institute of Marketing as well as being a fellow of the Institute of Financial Accountants.My motivation is to empower individuals with long-term health conditions and disabilities to create positive change in their lives & communities. At Accounting for Good CIC, we offer accountancy and tax services, fundraising and grant writing assistance, a supportive community for changemakers, and training. We make self-employment accessible for people with disabilities by providing support and access to work opportunities. Self-employment offers flexibility, control over the work environment, and the ability to manage workloads according to health needs. This passion drives my commitment to making a meaningful impact.One example of my work is leading the financial restructuring of a charity that provides a safe space for individuals and their families. This project saved the charity from closure and ensured its essential services continued. As a result, hundreds of individuals have benefited, maintaining their independence and improving their quality of life.Currently, I am engaged in speaking engagements, projects, and initiatives to raise awareness about financial empowerment for all, especially those with disabilities.
