Network ManagerRiverside Business & Enterprise College Oct 2007 - Aug 2011As manager it was important to balance the day to day running of the department with planning for future upgrades and policies. My role involved a myriad of responsibilities including making important decisions, problem solving, manipulating the direction of the college's ICT support, and managing a team of technicians. The college had over 400 workstations running XP/Vista, 100 laptops, multiple network peripherals/devices, with 2003/2008 servers, multiple switches and a gigabit backbone. Main duties included:- Creating and managing ICT Policies, Disaster Recovery Planns and AUP- Installation, maintenance, administration and backup of servers including SAN- Control of the ICT budget, with support for other linked budgets- Management of the department, ICT Tech Team, Appraisals and ICT equipment - Managing MIS server, hardware and software- Designing, Maintaining and administration of the college's website, intranet & VLE (Fronter)- Providing training materials, training sessions and supporting staff on the system- Creating, maintaining and developing security mechanisms to protect data and systems- Project managing new ICT projectsKey Achievements:- Installed, and migrated to a new domain, then virtualised with VMWare Esxi 4- Developed an onsite/off site backup system- Created a new eye catching website for the college- Project managed numerous ventures including installation of new suites, rollout of Interactive Boards, implementation of an ESXI 4.1 Server and P2V of servers- Developed and administration of Fronter a Virtual Learning Environment- Introduced new software to help the maintenance, behaviour management and security of the college's data like: Lanschool (Computer Security & Remote Software), Symantec Solution Suite, Symantec Endpoint and Kaspersky, Encryption of backups, memory sticks and laptops
