About Kaz Watanabe
I am currently the Architecture & Design Manager for Richmond American Homes in Maryland and Virginia Divisions, and responsible for the architecture and design in over 30 active communities. At Richmond American Homes, we build thoughtfully-designed, well-crafted single family and townhomes in 10 states. Our Maryland Division is an exciting place with lots of new product and many new communities in places such as Federal Hill, Tanyard Cove, Hampden and Villagio.I serve as the main hub of communications between our Land Development, Construction, Sales and our Corporate Architecture team. That means I take on many separate responsibilities including evaluating grading plans and site layouts, evaluate new product, draw up plans and elevations in CAD, help with material selections, work on occasional custom changes, coordinate with city officials, value engineer plans, help support the construction staff and many other things. It's a high-paced, high-energy environment that challenges me every day. It's a lot of work but seeing the product built is always a great pay-off and I get to say, "I did that."
