In 1993, I became an Amateur "Ham" Radio operator and have been a Novice with 5 words per min Morse code, Technician and am currently a General. I have assisted in Emergency and Non-Emergency communications during my time as an amateur. Amateur Radio is used as a public service in emergencies and non-emergency events to provide communications. I was stationed at the Hepburn Twp Fire Company during the 1996 flood to provide communications through our repeaters back to the Lycoming County Dept of Public Safety through the amateur radio room which was relayed to county officials in the next room over in the 9-1-1 center or other Public Safety Officials through the complex. Soon after, I became a junior member of Hepburn Twp. Vol. Fire Co. Ham Radio took me into the public safety field and the rest is history. When I was 16 I became a member of the Williamsport Emergency Management Agency and was involved in Communications (radios) Liaison and Logistics, which I did for a little over 2 years. I was a member of the Montgomery Boro Fire Company for about 2 years and a non-resident member of the Old Lycoming Fire Co and during the 13 active years I was with Hepburn Twp Fire Co, 10 of which I was elected each year as the Fire Police Captain from Jan 2010 until the end of 2009 when I began downsizing my activities. As Fire Police Captain which is the highest rank of Fire Police in Pennsylvania, I was responsible for anything having to do with fire police and the Fire Police Officers and as Captain, my duties included being on the Executive Board of the Fire Company as well. I have been an Associate Member of the Fraternal Order of Police Lodge # 29 Williamsport, PA since 2000 and now listed as a Life Associate Member. I was the Deputy Emergency Management Coordinator of Hepburn and Lycoming Townships since 1996 until 2009. Furthermore, I have been members of both local Ham Radio clubs as well, the West Branch Amateur Radio Association I was elected as Vice President for a year when I was 16. I was elected Vice President of the Bald Eagle Repeater Association since for the years 2017 through 2023. I sponsor a four amateur radio repeaters as well as a General Mobile Radio Service repeater here in Williamsport.
