Research on magnetic nanostructures and their microwave properties. We aim at functionalization of collective spin excitations for application in microwave technology, e.g. for on-chip processing of wireless telecommunication signals. My work included nanofabrication in an ISO6 cleanroom environment, construction and maintenance of optical and electrical microwave spectroscopy setups, programming of automatized measurement routines with Python and LabView, data analysis, visualization and communication of the research outcomes. Master Thesis Project
Title: Magnetic reversal and domain formation in individual ferromagnetic nanotubesSupervisor: Prof. Dirk GrundlerI conducted electrical four probe magneto-transport measurements on individual ferromagnetic nanotubes. Analysis of the anisotropic magnetoresistance (AMR) and the anomalous Nernst effect (ANE) provided insights into the static magnetization configurations of the nanotubes. The experimental results were complemented by finite-element micromagnetic simulations (Nmag). The main research outcomes are published in Appl. Phys. Lett. 108, 132408 (2016); https://doi.org/10.1063/1.4945331
Bachelor Thesis
Title: Impedance-Matched Electrical Study of Magnetization DynamicsSupervisor: Prof. Sebastian T. B. GoennenweinOptimization and testing of an impedance matching circuit based on a capacitively coupled half wave microstrip resonator fabricated on a PCB substrate. I used analytic calculations and EM simulations to optimize the circuit and measured the reflection parameter with a vector network analyzer. I designed a housing (CAD with Autodesk Inventor) for electromagnetic shielding.
