As a graduate of the College of Nursing at California Baptist University I have had the opportunity to learn and validate what becoming a nurse means to me. With the hopes of pursuing a career in the pediatrics department, becoming a nurse has been a goal of mine since I was sixteen. With my father being in and out of the hospital for a span of two years I was inspired to work in the healthcare industry and make a difference for someone as the nurses made for my father and our family. As for my interest in pediatrics, came during my pediatric rotation in nursing school. To have the opportunity to be apart of what makes kids smiles, act as a distraction during a scary time, along with providing care for both the patients and parents will exemplify good well-being. Overall, I was given the opportunity to work in the clinical setting an improve my skillset of working in a hospital setting.During my college career, I have taken on leadership roles in a group settings, held a NSNA membership, became apart of a community through Students of Nursing Association (SONA) club, while balancing a work schedule outside of the school setting. Working in retail, customer service, and childcare has helped me improve my communication skills, along with being able to take initiative during critical times. With both personal and clinical work experience, I have a firm belief that I am at the novice level with the passion and determination to become a competent professional nurse
