MY ORIGIN STORY:My introduction to connecting IT and the daily business at hand goes back more than 30 years. In 1987I was hired as a temp to do a file room clean up and archive sweep of all pre 1978 files. I would pull and box files and then do handwritten lists with the file name and number, and the archive box number. In the first few weeks I noticed clerks spending hours and sometimes days scouring other handwritten archive lists looking for other files and asked my supervisor why these lists weren't on the computers. I had never touched a computer but this office had a few dozen. They were all stand alone/not networked, pre-Windows/DOS. These were the days when files, documents and full applications lived on 5.25" floppy disks. So my supervisor set up a meeting with the SysAdmin, who pushed back on the amount data entry time required. I suggested using someone in the typing pool (It was the 1980s). The SysAdmin created the structure in dBase3 and Pinky McLeod (the fastest typist in the pool) had 5 years of archive lists entered that afternoon. And BAM! Things changed in that office forever. And I found my calling and ability to find practical uses for technology.MY PITCH:Incomparable ability bridging technical resources with the executive rank.
