Previously Ambassador For Members In Asia, FihThe Institute Of Hospitality, United Kingdom Jan 2008 - Dec 2014I was a Fellow of the Institute of Hospitality, as a long time member during and following on from their transition from the older HCIMA, and was asked to represent their members who were located in the Asia Pacific region, and reflect their views and representations with the Directors of the Institute in the UK. Though we were open also to creating further members activities and conducting forums and functions within the AP area, the focus of the Institute and its attention to its many thousands of former international members across the Asia Pacific drifted away from its international members who have not received the international recognition and support of past years as the Institute has migrated to being a predominantly regional UK body in its primary focus in recent years.

With an extensive background in senior Operational, Marketing and Development roles in a number of major hotel companies worldwide over 28 years, was integral member of the senior team that created Asia's newest luxury Hotel Operator to emerge from Hong Kong this generation, Langham Hotels International, www.langhamhotels.comServed also as the General Manager (1995 - 97) of the Renaissance Hotel Kowloon (now the Langham Hong Kong) and as Vice President - Operations & Asset Management (1996 - 2003) for the Groups owned international hotels. -
General Manager - Le Meridien MelbourneLe Meridien Hotels & Resorts Jun 1992 - Aug 1993ThTook over the management of this newly leased former Menzies Rialto Hotel and successfully re-branded it as Le Meridien Melbourne, their first Australian hotel contract. During this time a complete renovation was initiated and managed while remaining fully operational. I resigned from the company following the announcement of the sale of the company by then parent Air France to Forte Hotels to start my own Asset Management Company, Australian Hospitality International, representing the Asian based owners of hotels in Australia and New Zealand. -
General Manager - Le Meridien Changi SingaporeMeridien Hotels Inc 1989 - 1992Assumed management of this hotel, on it’s coming out of receivership, for new owners, Singapore's largest private developer Far East Organization, with a new target NOI securing the continued management contract guaranteed by my then brand superiors at 6 times the previous best achieved GOP.Without any infusion of new capital for what was seen as a poorly positioned hotel, with although initially one third of its rooms in poor condition from past water damage, the guaranteed previously unobtainable profit target was achieved in each of my 3 years tenure, with strong new community support as well as international industry support & recognition. This included an international HSMAI award for our innovative hotel marketing and advertising efforts for "Singapore's other hotel". Having achieved what Head Office thought very unlikely, I became noted as the turnaround specialist which always risks ending up with the dirtiest jobs others fight to decline. It did however teach me that something is not always impossible, but just harder if you are willing to persevere, and build up and rely on your own team and resources and not expect the solution from a Head Office even wary of the promise they had themselves made. -
