In this role I oversaw and provided strategic direction for planning, implementation and evaluation of district wide health promotion programs and services ensuring alignment with SESLHD and NSW Ministry of Health priorities. I also successfully led the Health Promotion Service through accreditation against the National Safety and Quality Health Service Standards. I led development and implementation of several large change management initiatives including: • The SESLHD Smoking Cessation Action Plan to integrate smoking cessation into routine clinical care• The NSW Healthy Food and Drink in Health Facilities framework to improve access to healthy food and drinks options across SESLHD facilitiesI also led numerous community based initiatives to increase mental and physical wellbeing of local communities, and established the Aboriginal Healthy Lifestyle portfolio, to increase engagement with Aboriginal communities.

In this role I provided strategic direction and managed the day-to-day operations, budget and reporting for NSW Tobacco Control Program. I was responsible for ensuring that the Cancer Institute delivers activities and achieves its KPIs under the NSW Tobacco Strategy and the NSW Cancer Plan. I developed strategic plans that outline a clear vision and direction for the program, and led the Tobacco Control research agenda to facilitate policy and program driven research, including research with priority populations. I led development of the NSW Smoking Cessation Framework, which aims to facilitate a coordinated and integrated approach to improve the provision of smoking cessation support across the NSW health system. I provided strategic oversight of quit support services in NSW (including Quitline NSW) and managed the day-to-day delivery of iCanQuit.com.au – the online smoking cessation service, including quality improvement strategies and projects to improve engagement with the service and making the service compliant with key quality assurance standards, data governance requirements and relevant legislations. I led planning, development and implementation of over 20 anti-tobacco, quit support and lung cancer public education campaigns.

In this role I led the Prevention team and provided strategic direction and oversight of the programs, projects and associated activities that facilitated improvements in tobacco control, smoking cessation and skin cancer prevention. I also provided expert advice on social marketing activities for breast, cervical and bowel screening to increase participation in cancer screening programs.

In this role I managed recruitment and social marketing strategies and projects for the NSW Cervical Screening Program and BreastScreen NSW with the aim to increase women’s participation in both programs. I led development, implementation and evaluation of the state-wide mass media campaign for the NSW Cervical Screening Program. The campaign was featured in the Community Relations Report 2013 as an example of culturally appropriate intervention.

In this role I led cancer screening recruitment portfolio by driving development and implementation of marketing and recruitment strategies for BreastScreen NSW and the NSW Cervical Screening Program. I fostered coordinated and standardised approach to marketing and recruitment strategies across the state. I led development, implementation and evaluation of the state wide mass media campaign for the NSW Cervical Screening Program.

In this role I managed a number of projects and contracts for BreastScreen NSW and NSW Cervical Screening Program. I fostered partnerships with BreastScreen NSW Screening and Assessment Services and coordinated state wide BreastScreen NSW Recruitment and Marketing Network meeting.

Children And Young People'S Mental Health

In this role I was responsible for planning and evaluation of a Youth Mental Health Service Model, which looked at the closing gap between children and adult mental health services. This model was a NSW pilot service that had a strong health promotion, prevention and early intervention focus. I developed, implemented and evaluated the Youth Mental Health Carer Strategy to improve the carers’ participation in the service development, implementation and evaluation. This project has received a Mental Health Drug & Alcohol Service Award.

In this role I collected and analysed data on parents within the mental health services. The results have been published in a peer-reviewed journal. I developed evaluation tools, prepared ethics applications, documented and disseminated research findings.
