Team member within SSMG, planning and undertaking the production of replies to defect investigations within a given timescale to meet Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).Investigates defects with the relevant Design Authorities, Equipment Project Managers, Manufacturers, Waterfront staff and Commodity Managers to obtain technical, logistical and operational information and advice in order to ensure successful delivery of comprehensive and accurate defect report replies.Conscientious to safety, recently going above and beyond my responsibility to lead the redesigning of the personal distress horn used throughout the Royal Naval fleet during emergency fire fighting operations after a number of reports detailed the horn breaking during use. The new robust design will now be used throughout the fleet, an achievement which has been recognised and rewarded by senior management at SSMG.

Liaised with the shipbuilder and IT department to project manage the introduction of Astute Class technical drawings into the Submarine Definition Database (SDD) over the course of an eight month task.Honed skills in using Microsoft Office suite, Adobe and Oracle computer systems to analyse and display submarine ship fit data.Utilised submarine knowledge to analyse Astute class submarine datasets sent from the shipbuilder before creating the ship fit database, which is used to populate the Unit Maintenance Management System (UMMS) – the computer program used onboard Royal Naval vessels predominantly for reporting defects, directing maintenance and ordering stores.Mentoring team members in the operation of the computer programs used, acting as the Configuration Team Leader’s stand in during his absence, updating the ship fit collection with feedback received from ships staff through UMMS or Quality Assurance paperwork, investigating errors in data received and raising queries to the relevant authority in order for the problem to be resolved and using my mechanical engineering background to mentor and assist other teams in specific queries they may have.

Nuclear Marine Engineering Technician of the Watch (NMETOW), Category 'B' Watchkeeper. Position consisted of watchkeeping on, maintaining, defect rectifying and fault diagnostics of all nuclear reactor systems and ancillary systems and their related equipment, along with maintaining and operating the onboard Diesel Generators. Other responsibilities include chemical analysis and control of Steam Generator water and supervision of Engine Room watchkeepers.October 2008 February 2009 - Selected for and successfully completed Nuclear Propulsion Operators Course (NPOC) and Steam Generator Chemistry Course.October 2006 - Qualified Shutdown Supervisor.October 2006 - Promoted to Petty Officer Marine Engineering Artificer Mechanical Submarines (now known as Engineering Technician).July 2006 - Qualified Main Machinery Space Senior Rate (MMSSR), Category 'C' Watchkeeper. Position consisted of watchkeeping on, maintaining, defect rectifying and fault diagnostics of all secondary and auxiliary systems and equipment, including rotating machinery. The MMSSR also controls and leads the onboard Fire Fighting team, acting as the Fearnaught Team Leader. Appointed Deputy Section Head of the Secondary Mechanical section. Responsibilities include assisting the Section Head in preparing for maintenance periods by ordering stores, organising inboard support such as cranage, obtaining any specially required tools or equipment, completing the relevant paperwork, taking charge of large evolutions (gearbox inspection, hotwell inspection) and taking over as Section Head when the Head was on leave.Served on HMS Torbay and HMS Trafalgar.
