The Advancement Department of Concordia Seminary solicits gifts to increase the financial support for institutional priorities through major gifts, direct mail appeals, gifts by phone and marketing through the creative services and communications team.Support and coordinate all functions of the Advancement Department with the Senior Vice President (SVP), including major gifts, direct mail, gifts by phone and creative services/communications. This includes assisting in the development of the strategic initiatives, annual marketing plan and budget.Work closely with the SVP to keep her well informed of upcoming commitments and responsibilities, following up appropriately. Act as a “barometer,” having a sense for the issues taking place in theenvironment and keeping the SVP updated. Anticipate SVP’s needs in advance of meetings, conferences, etc.Manage all aspects of organization’s office services. Evaluate and assist in developing office policies and procedures for improved work flow and anticipate future needs as the department grows. Assist in the selection of vendors and purchase equipment, services, and supplies necessary for operation of organization.Collaborate with the creative services/communications department to develop marketing plans, campaigns and assist with project management.Serve as the Seminary liaison to external constituent groups.Managed the calendar of the Seminary President by booking all travel and national speaking engagements.Assisted in a fundraising campaign raising $285 million dollars, the Seminary’s largest fundraising effort in history. Planned, managed and implemented all Advancement, donor and fundraising events, including the 175th anniversary celebration, the library renovation grand opening and campaign launch andcelebrations. Responsible for the registration and logistical/strategic planning and implementation for 35 district national conventions as well as the synodical conventions.
