I am currently working as an Zoo Biologist at Sardar Patel Zoological Park. I am in charge of the care, training and management of the animals. I am responsible for the upkeep of the animal enclosures, feeding and general welfare of Indian and exotic animals, birds and reptiles in my care. The job is very dynamic and challenging as it requires a lot of patience and understanding to deal with different animals with different needs.I am also a member of the IUCN/SSC Otter Specialist Group & Species Survival Commission. My research interest lies in the ecological studies of otters and their interactions with humans. Some of the projects I have worked on are the Fisherman-otter Conflict Mitigation Project, Deer and Antelope Breeding Project, Human-Crocodile Interaction Project, Vulture Conservation Project, Human-leopard Conflict Mitigation Project, etc.I am interested in the conservation and research of wildlife. This interest has grown over the years as I have learned about various species and how they are being threatened by human activities. My key focus is on herpetological studies. I have a keen interest in the various aspects of herpetology such as behavioural ecology, evolution, physiology and conservation biology.I have experience in wildlife rescue and rehabilitation, project planning and execution, captive management of wild and exotic animals, radio telemetry studies, scientific writing, etc.
